About what is prejudice
In this article, let's talk about what isprejudice. Sometimes, it would seem, in a completely simple and understandable real world, individual members of society perceive certain things and phenomena somewhat inadequately. In fact, prejudice is prejudice based on a stereotype. It arises solely from a person's unwillingness to think and evaluate the events of the surrounding world on his own.
Opinions based on the authority of parents, leadership, team, etc. and completely not rethought - that's what prejudice is. Of course, the presence of various kinds of errors and stereotypes in a person, which he persistently gives out for his own principles, speaks of social and personal immaturity, and sometimes of banal degradation. Such a person, in fact, simply falls out of reality and can often be dangerous not only for himself, but also for society.
An example of this is racial prejudice. A person who tries to assert himself not by personal development, but by winning a cheap authority through humiliation of people with a different color of skin or a cut of the eyes, may receive some momentary benefit. However, material prosperity is nothing compared to the degradation of the individual. Gradually, such a person will lose the sense of reality more and more. It is not known how this can end.
However, often the answer to the question about what isprejudice, simple can not be called. For example, people who too actively impose other people's traditions and way of life in their country are not at all fighters against racism, as they often try to present themselves to society. Paradoxically, they have the same prejudice, but already in relation to their own nation, which prevents them from adequately perceiving reality. Such a person often does not notice in the society of which he is a part, nothing good-only flaws.
Of course, not all prejudices are so serious and dangerous, there are prejudices - superstitions. However, even in harmless, such as a black cat that crossed the road, nothing good is there.Believe that there will be some misfortuneonly because a perfectly nice animal was heading somewhere for its personal affairs is unreasonable. Many people have other, no less ridiculous superstitions and prejudices. Examples of this are the firm view that all entrepreneurs without exception are thieves, or the conviction of foreigners that all Russians drink and steal. Such absurdities, in the end, lead to more serious and dangerous types of prejudice - racial, class or religious.
It is not right to think that to various superstitionsOnly the upper strata of society are disposed, or not too educated. In fact, highly intellectual, quite intelligent people can be mistaken and manifest such ignorance. Hence we can conclude that neither higher education nor high position in society will replace the personal development and education of the "I" on its own, and not on someone's experience.
So, what prejudices are is quite understandable. It is necessary to think independently and only on the basis of independently made assessments to take any action. This will be useful both to the person himself and, as a result, to the whole society.
