Famous Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov made a proposal to create a public cable channel, which would show debut pictures of young filmmakers.
As Mikhalkov said, he is currently negotiating with the leaders of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company so that students of his film academy can be provided with a platform to show their work.
“It would be an interesting experience for both beginner filmmakers and viewers - we will be able to follow the process itself, and not just the finished result. Everyone knows how hard it is for a young movie to get on the TV screen. And a special channel, which would be correctly positioned and would be a permanent source of information about young cinema, could seriously ease the way to the profession for young people, ”the director said.
